When to go to Lille
Lille is a fascinating city year-round, with lots of things to do in both summer and winter. However, most visitors arrive between March and June when the weather is the most reliable. And of course, the season that brings the city most afflux in visitors is summer. Things are busier in high season, but despite the crowds, summer in Lille is a lovely time to be here because much of everything moves outdoors.
Lille has a temperate oceanic climate, with rather low precipitation. The rainiest month is April, while the coldest month is January with average temperatures between 1 to 6ºC. The warmest months are July and August, but summer temperatures generally fall in the range 10 to 22ºC with no more than four hot days above 30ºC. Overall, in usual year conditions, the city is welcoming.
You can also enjoy strolls on the old streets and take a peek at the houses and civilization signs both in late November and December. Winter in Lille is a nice choice as this is when streets are animated by the Christmas markets with their old charm.
